The American Indian Society of Washington DC is petitioning the State of Maryland for special organizational license plates featuring the AIS logo and name.

To sign up, call John Wigle at 301-983-2768 with your name, your current tag number, and a phone number where you can be reached. There is no initial cost to sign up, and you may sign up as many vehicles as your family owns. An example of the proposed plate is shown below. The plate is subject to change pending final approval of the society and the state.

Once the petition is completed and accepted by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration, each petitioner will be required to complete an MVA Form and make payment of $25 to the MVA for the special logo tag. Monies are paid to the MVA for the tags. The $25 fee covers the cost of making the license plate and MVA administrative fees.
