AIS
SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION PURPOSE: To award education
scholarships to Indian students. TYPE OF AWARD: The American Indian Society of Washington, DC
will award scholarship grants to Indian Students who submit applications and
who have been recommended by the Scholarship Committee and approved by vote
of the general membership in the August AIS monthly meeting. One-half (½) of
the amount awarded will be issued at the beginning of the school term and the
balance issued at the middle of the school term. HOWEVER, BEFORE THE SECOND
CHECK IS ISSUED, AIS MUST RECEIVE A COPY OF THE STUDENT'S
RE-ACCEPTANCE LETTER AND A COPY OF THE MOST CURRENT GRADES. TYPE OF SCHOOL: College, University, trade school, or any other
post secondary institution. CRITERIA: AIS Scholarships are intended for students enrolled in an American Indian, or Alaska Native tribe/community, and currently enrolled and in good standing in a post secondary education program/institution. AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Preference will be given to
Washington, DC area applicants who have been a member of AIS (individual or
family) for at least one year prior to applying for the scholarship. DEADLINE FOR FILING APPLICATION: Complete applications must be received, not postmarked by the
Scholarship Committee or given to any AIS Officer by the third Monday in July. Mail
completed applications, copy of grades, and resume to: American Indian Society
Scholarship Committee (Note:
Complete Applications must be RECEIVED by the Third Monday of July for
